| Subject: LOW-LAG Whirlpool???? October 24th 2012, 5:21 pm | |
| I don't know whether to put this in the building or scripting part of the forum, as it requires both assets of ROBLOX game building. I need to make a whirlpool for a game video I'm making with a group, but I can't seem to get anything to work, because it is to laggy. The theme is "Survive the Whirlpools!!!!" What I need to happen is to have lots of bricks [i only used 20 and got MAJOR lag] to be spinning around a focal point; 0, 0, 0 on the XYZ axis. Now, they need to move randomly, or at least it would be nice if they did. I have experimented with RotVelocity and Velocity, but I can't get either to work. I've tried putting them in a big bowl shaped hole in the ground, making all the Part surfaces smooth, or un-joinable, un-anchoring them. I have to put a wall around them or they fling out of the map and get Destroy()'d. If I could get some proffesional help by Friday October 27th, I would appreciate it, greatly. Do I need to insert a GyroPosition, RocketPropultion, etc; or something? | |

| This would be very difficult with ROBLOX physics. It would assuredly be laggy. | |

| Well, It would be laggy if you let roblox physyics decide what to do with them, but if you used a script for it, it would tell ROBLOX where to put each brick, and that would reduce the render time. Therefore: LESS LAG :) BUT, I don't know how to do CFrame with scripts, and stuff like positions and Euler Angles. | |

| It would be so complex it wouldn't be worth it. Just use a black hole effect. | |

| Make a script that causes everything nearby to get drawn to a point. | |

| Well.... Would I use the thingy that searches for anything within a certain distance to have there velocities come towards mine? [Like I said, I have NO experience with scripting movement...] | |

| Search workspace for objects, figure out the distance using (p1 - p2).magnititude , then if it's the correct distance, add a weak body position object to drag the object to the whirlpool. | |
